Na początku 1002 roku dwaj mnisi eremici przybyli do Polski z Pereum (Jan i
Benedykt). Wkrótce dołączyli do nich Izaak, Mateusz i Krystyn. Rozpoczęli oni
budowę eremu ale napad rabunkowy z 10 na 11 listopada 1003 roku położył temu
kres. Ciała ich podobnie jak Wojciecha złożono w katedrze gnieźnieńskiej.
